Baptist Children’s Hospital’s pediatric patients were treated to a day of Rides ‘N Smiles at Homestead-Miami Speedway recently. The inaugural event was hosted by the Southern Automotive Media Association (SAMA) for young patients with chronic illnesses and their siblings. More than 50 children were thrilled to ride around the speedway’s 2.3-mile road course in high-performance exotic cars driven by auto racer Bill Adam and SAMA members. The children were also given a behind-the-scenes tour of the speedway, lunch, goodie bags and racing certificates.
